What's On Your Photo Wish List?
Have you ever been in the moment and caught yourself thinking “I don’t ever want this moment to end,” or “I wish we could stay this way forever?” Or have you reminisced on a moment in your past and wished more than anything that you had a photo to remember the details? I’ve been in both scenarios, and both contribute to my passion for documentary photography.
It may be challenging to think off the top of your head about which moments, routines, habits, rituals, you would love to have photos of. Maybe they are so many that you can’t possibly keep them all straight. Or maybe you hear crickets and you have no idea where to begin. I’m here to help give you some starting points to put together your Photo Wish List.
Here are some things to think about when brainstorming:
What is your family’s favorite past time? What is the one thing you guys enjoy doing together the most?
What are some of your family’s holiday traditions? What would your holiday not be the same without?
What are some of your regular routines? What happens so often that you don’t even think about it during your day-to-day life?
What are some things that drive you crazy? You may not think you want a photo of those things now, but what happens when your kids or your spouse no longer have that annoying habit?
Who do you have a special connection with in your extended family? What do you enjoy doing together?
Who’s your best friend? And why are they your best friend?
Any ideas in your head so far? Are any moments or memories coming up where you can envision the photo you’d like to have? Are there any past memories where you wish you could go back in time to capture them? Don’t ever miss a moment again after taking my new photography course “Beginner Photography for the Everyday Storyteller.” In this self-paced online course, I teach you the basics of photography so that you can capture all of these photos with ease and make all of these “what-if” photos a reality.
